Marley & Moi

I just got back from watching Marley & Me. It's a great story. It has an amazing plot, from a hilarious beginning to a tearful ending. It's a story about a newly wed couple who decided to start their new life in Florida. They managed to secure themselves jobs in two competing newspaper companies. Their names are John and Jenny. One day, John sensed that Jenny was contemplating motherhood, and a friend of his, Sebastian suggested him to get a dog to see if they're ready to raise a family. Therefore, he offered Jenny an advance birthday present, a cute labrador retriever. Jenny was thrilled. John had to pick the dog up since Jenny was working outside. While driving the dog home, they were listening to Bob Marley in the car and he baptised the labrador as Marley. Little did they know that Marley was far from being perfect. The first day he left Marley alone in the garage to pick Jenny up from the airport, Marley turned the garage upside down. Marley was a neurotic dog. They lived each day trying to discipline Marley, but all the efforts were in vain. Marley was there in each happy and sad moment of their life. The first sad moment they encountered was when they lost their first baby. As neurotic as Marley was, he seemed to understand that his owners were grieving. But he, however witnessed every child born into the family, Patrick, Connor and Colleen. He lived with them for fourteen years before he got sick and died a few days later. It was really sad towards the end of the movie. Marley got really ill and the Vet had to put him to sleep, forever. The family mourned his death, every one of them. I, myself even shed a few tears.

What's so great about the film is, it conveys so many positive messages. Like, how separation is not the solution to increasing difficulties in raising a family. Or, people are never satisfied with what they have. Also patience leads to great things in the end. Not to forget, the bond created between man and canine. Such a strong tie does exist. And love, we need to nurture it so that it doesn't die of drought. To put it in a nutshell, it's a beautiful story and worth watching! Okay, bed's calling. A la prochaine!
