Backstabbing? Think Again.

Backbiting, needless to say, is the Malaysians’ favourite pastime. I just realized that blabbermouths exist everywhere, even in a small Malaysian community like the one I’m living in now. We just cannot escape from it, can we? Of all other activities in which we can gain benefits from, why do we choose malicious talking is just beyond me. Does meddling with other people’s lives satisfy us? It’s wrecking the beautiful relationship that we have actually built among us. I found it ridiculous to go gossiping behind others’ backs instead of confronting them. Does spreading rumors about others will make us look good in the society?

As far as I am concerned, back-fence talking will not get us anywhere. It will just make us look bad in the end, because it’s karma; what goes around will come around. I am really surprised at how adults can be worse than kids at one point. They use scuttlebutt as an escapism of what they lack of. It’s shocking to learn that they can get that low to conciliate themselves. I don’t know what they get from doing it. Satisfaction? Maybe. Guilty? Not until they regret what they did. Or, better yet, until people see their true colours. Is that what we really want in life? To build happiness on other people’s downfalls? For me, living like that won’t make us happy. Especially one day, when we apprehend what we did was wrong, remorse will hit us like a pang.

The most dissapointing part of the scandal is the party who bought all the stories served to them. Or, decided to listen to the rumormongers. But then, they are not the one to be blamed, for the weasels do not only talk about others, but also the mob who swallowed their buzz. This is called double-crossing. This unfit activity should be banished from our circle because it’s tearing the group apart. It is unhealthy and wrong. We don’t want a broken society since we don’t have anyone else here, we only have each other. Furthermore, alienating the people in this small community doesn’t do us any good, considering these are the beings who will be there when you’re in trouble and in need of help.

It’s time for us to stop blabbing about others and start making amend therefore, when we go back to our Malaysian soil, we can tell others of how pleasant is our stay in a small Malaysian community abroad. Not the other way round. We should make our sojourn worthwhile, in the future when we look back, we actually have something to be proud of and to appreciate. We are lucky to be given a chance to live abroad and this is the moment we have to cherish seeing that chances like this come once in a life time.

its a pitty. tak ramai manusia dalam koloni pun cant stop the cancer from spreading. i absolutely loathe this favorite past time of our society. i hated it so much that when im around friends, gf, grandmas, makciks n even my mom, i would not hesitate to give my typical piece of mind or leave the scene of gossiping around my proximity. even the 'mild' stuff wud easily get on my skin n ears. i dunno why we shud execute the unnecessary when the necessary wud bite u enuf and took most of the time and life out of u.
